Kabir Singh, according to Shahid Kapoor, was a “modern, violent version” of Shah Rukh Khan’s Devdas

Shahid Kapoor is promoting his forthcoming sports drama Jersey at the moment. The Hindi version of the Telugu film of the same name, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. His most recent movie, Kabir Singh, released in 2019, was likewise a remake. Sandeep Vanga Reddy directed the film, which got mixed reviews from reviewers and moviegoers alike. However, it went on to become one of the year’s most divisive and highest-grossing films. Shahid now claims that his movie Kabir Singh is a “contemporary, aggressive version” of Shah Rukh Khan’s Devdas in a recent media interview.

Shahid Kapoor told PTI that following the success of Kabir Singh, he was seeking for a film that was “emotionally deep,” which he found in Jersey. Despite being emotional, the actor stated that the two movies are distinct from one another. According to Shahid, “It has the same kind of emotional depth that the love story of ‘Kabir Singh’ had. ‘Kabir Singh’ was a modern aggressive version of ‘Devdas’, actually. It is a man who destroys himself out of love for someone…The only difference is that man is reactive, aggressive.”

Shahid went on to say that he has a lot of in common with his character in Jersey, ‘Arjun,’ because he, too, is a family guy. “I understand what comes with marriage, in terms of relationships, responsibilities, how it changes you from being a boy to a man,” said the 41-year-old actor.

The film, which is set in Jersey, tells the story of a failing cricketer who returns to the field for his son. Apart from Shahid, the film also features Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur, Shahid’s father and renowned actor. On April 14th, it will be released in theatres.
