Mumbai: Singer-composer Jasleen Royal is known for songs like Din Shagna Da, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and Kesari’s Deh Shiv.
Jasleen is back with another soulful raga, which she has sung with B Praak in the upcoming biographical war film Shershaah directed by Vishnuvardhan. The song is from Jasleen’s second patriotic film based on true events, which celebrates a war hero.
Ranjha is a heart-warming love song that perfectly captures the feeling of love and loss through its lyrics and Jasleen’s soulful voice. She elaborates on the track and how the entire song is a depiction of her mental state as her friend was going through a depressing phase.
Talking about the song, Jasleen said, “This song is special for me on many levels. It has been absolutely awesome. When I recorded this song, I was in a very emotional state. My best friend was going through a bad break-up and it was really overwhelming to see her go through it. This song helped me make out what was happening around me. It was kind of therapeutic. The song has layers of feelings of love, separation and everything in between. I really hope people resonate with it as well.”
Jasleen is also working on two other tracks of her own. She keeps on uploading her covers of different types of songs on social media. Recently, Jasleen released the acoustic version of the song Raatein from Ajay Devgn’s film Shivaay in 2016 on her YouTube channel. Ranjha song is releasing on Thursday.
