Janhvi on Shikhar’s Quiet Month in Juhu After Sridevi
Janhvi Kapoor opens up on Koffee With Karan about how Shikhar Pahariya quietly rearranged his life to be near her after Sridevi's death.

Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming Koffee With Karan appearance is already giving fans a tender detail worth holding on to. Sitting beside her Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari co-star Varun Dhawan, she walks Karan Johar through a moment she only understood in hindsight: Shikhar Pahariya had quietly moved closer after Sridevi died, without making a show of it.
What Janhvi told Karan
When Karan asks whether she always knew Shikhar was her "endgame," Janhvi recalls a decision he kept mostly to himself. He was studying in London, took about half a semester off, returned to Bombay, and stayed with his father in town.
Then he made a smaller move, to a friend’s house in Juhu for around a month. Janhvi says she was not seeing him every day. Later she learned the reason: "in case she needs me, I just want to be around."
Karan, according to the episode, also says he saw that support firsthand, even though the two were not officially a couple at the time.
The backdrop of loss
Janhvi’s mother, veteran actor Sridevi, died on February 24, 2018, in Dubai. Initial reports of cardiac arrest were later corrected; Dubai authorities confirmed accidental drowning in the bathtub of her hotel room. Her body was brought back to Mumbai on February 27, and the funeral took place the following day.
That period placed the Kapoor family under intense public gaze. Shikhar’s decision to be nearby, without announcing it, reads as a quiet answer to a loud, overwhelming moment.
A relationship built slowly
Janhvi and Shikhar have never publicly confirmed a relationship, but the markers have been consistent.
- 2023: On Koffee With Karan 8, Janhvi named "Shiku" as one of three people on her speed dial.
- April 2024: She was photographed wearing a necklace bearing his name at the screening of Maidaan.
- May 2024: She said he has been part of her life since she was 15 or 16 and called them each other’s support system.
- Later: Boney Kapoor denied reports that a 2026 wedding was being planned.
Why fans are holding on to this
Bollywood often trades in grand gestures. This one lands because it is small: no announcement, no public promise, just presence. Janhvi’s retelling also makes clear she noticed the consistency only after the fact, which turns a logistical detail into an emotional one.
Koffee With Karan has long been the couch where relationship details are shared in code. This story is a reminder that the most revealing moments are sometimes the quietest ones.
