Jalsa is modelled on Amitabh Bachchan’s Mumbai residence, and Vidya Balan

Jalsa, starring Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah, will be released soon. The drama thriller has gone for the over-the-top approach and will be released soon. The duo is out and about promoting the picture ahead of its release. Shefali and Vidya Balan said in a recent interview that they came across a strange question.

The performers were reportedly asked if their film is based on Amitabh Bachchan’s Mumbai house. Jalsa is the name of Big B’s Mumbai home for the uninitiated. Vidya Balan revealed to Bollywood Hungama that she and Shefali read somewhere that the film is based on Big B’s childhood house.

Reacting, Vidya Balan said, “Can you believe it? So when someone asked me ki ‘kya aapki film Mr Bachchan ke ghar ki bopic hai (is your film a biopic on Mr Bachchan’s house).’ To maine kaha us sawaal ke jawab ke liye aapko pratiksha karni padegi (I said you will have to wait for the answer to this question).”

While it may appear to be a regular response, Vidya’s witty retort was actually a play on Amitabh’s other Mumbai mansion, Pratiksha.

Shefali Shah, Vidya Balan’s co-star, was amused by her witty response and commented, “That’s a pretty excellent one. ” To which, Vidya added, “Because what do you say, how can it be the biopic of a house?”

Jalsa, directed by Suresh Triveni, will be available on Amazon Prime Video on March 18th.
