Bappi Lahiri kept saying his son ‘Ghar chalo ghar chalo’ during his last days

On February 15, the nation was shocked to learn of the death of iconic vocalist Bappi Lahiri. At the age of 69, he passed away. Bappi Da died at Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital after suffering from severe health conditions. The iconic singer, whose voice enchanted millions for decades, was cremated on February 17 in Mumbai’s Vile Parle crematorium. A news outlet reached out to his son Bappa Lahiri, who described his father’s final days in the hospital, days after his death as India’s ‘Disco King.’

In an interview with ETimes, Bappa revealed that Bappi Da spent the majority of last month in the hospital.

But every time he phoned him, the singer assured him that he was improving. “On Monday (February 14), he expressed his desire to return home, saying again, ‘ghar chalo ghar chalo.’ He didn’t eat the next day. Since that evening, things hadn’t been looking good (February 15). ‘Theek hai baad mein thoda kha lena,’ Mom said. We had two nurses with us. He began to feel quite drowsy. “We went to the doctor,” Bappa said.”

Bappi Lahiri is survived by two children: Bappa Lahiri, a son, and Rema Lahiri, a daughter.
