Back in the day, Lara Dutta turned down a role in The Matrix series

Lara Dutta was most recently seen in Bell Bottom, in which she played Indira Gandhi, who was unrecognisable. The actress even won an award for it, and she is now making a slow but steady comeback in front of the camera. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, the actress spoke up about her acting career and whether she has ever regretted any decisions.

Lara commented, My best period as an actor is… when asked how she would describe it. “That has to be right now. The kind of films and shows being written right now is a great phase for any artist.”

The actress has starred as a cop in a web series. She, on the other hand, has no regrets. ” Whatever I did, whatever roles and films I picked, I did what I felt was the best option for me at the time and I do not regret any of those,” Lara revealed.

Lara, an actress and devoted mother of a daughter, was also asked about a time when she turned down a role in the blockbuster The Matrix franchise. For the uninitiated, Lara was given a part in the Keanu Reeves action series in 2001. However, due to her mother’s illness, she did not pursue it.

Lara had this to say about it: “Of course, it was a tough time. I had not even started out in Bollywood. But I was very clear about what I wanted in life. Everything else came second, I just had to be with my mother at the time. I did not even think twice and came back to India. And, it wasn’t like I came here thinking we have Bollywood (as a backup, since I gave up on a huge Hollywood opportunity). I just had to be with my mother at the time since she was unwell, extremely unwell. Therefore I did not even think twice and came back to India.”

While Lara is now pursuing intriguing scripts, she has also been in a number of online series and is creating a name for herself.
