Taraji P Henson is indeed an actress from the United States. She began acting at Howard University as well as started her career in Hollywood as a guest star on such a number of television series before starring in Baby Boy (2001). She received acclaim for her roles as either a prostitute in Hustle & Flow (2005), for which she was nominated for such a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by such a Cast inside a Motion Picture, and also as a single mother of a disabled child in David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award, a SAG Award, and a Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress She co-starred in the remake of The Karate Kid and acted in the action-comedy Date Night in 2010.

She was nominated for such a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress inside a Limited Series or Movie for her role within the Lifetime Television film Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story in 2011. She earned an NAACP Image Award for her role as Detective Jocelyn Carter within the CBS show Person of Interest. She appeared inside the ensemble movies Think Like a Man and Think Like a Man 2 in 2014. She made history as the very first African-American woman to win a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Cookie Lyon inside the Fox drama series Empire. She too was nominated for Emmy Awards in 2015 and 2016 and won a Golden Globe Award.

Henson was named and is among the 100 most important persons in the world by Time magazine in 2016. Around the Way Girl, her autobiography, was a New York Times bestseller that year. In the same year, she earned a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for her portrayal as Katherine Johnson in the highly acclaimed drama film Hidden Figures.

Henson had her singing debut inside the movie Hustle & Flow when she sang “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp,” a song by Three 6 Mafia. The song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, making Three 6 Mafia the first African-American hip hop group to win in that category. On March 5, 2006, Henson and the band played the song live there at the Academy Awards. On the 2006 charity album Unexpected Dreams – Songs From the Stars, she performed “In My Daughter’s Eyes.”
