Saravanan Sivakumar, better known by his stage name Suriya, is indeed an Indian film actor, producer, television host, and philanthropist who was born on July 23, 1975. He is most recognised for his work in Tamil movies, wherein he is among the highest-paid performers in the industry. Three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards South, two Edison Awards, a Cinema Express Award, a CineMAA Award, and a Vijay Award are among his accolades. Suriya has appeared on the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list six times, primarily just on the revenues of Indian celebrities.
Suriya got his breakthrough role in Nandha after making his first start in Nerukku Ner, and also had his first significant commercial hit with thriller Kaakha Kaakha. He played a guy suffering from anterograde amnesia inside 2005 hit Ghajini, after award-winning performances as a conman in Pithamagan (2003) and a hunchback in Perazhagan (2004). He sprang to fame in Gautham Menon’s semi-autobiographical Vaaranam Aayiram, in which he played both a father and a son (2008). With performances as a smuggler in Ayan (2009) as well as an aggressive officer inside the Singam trilogy, he established himself as an action star. Suriya’s science fiction flicks 7aum Arivu (2011) and 24 were also successful (2016).
Suriya is the elder son of Tamil actor Sivakumar, whereas his younger brother Karthi is also a performer. In 2006, he married his co-star Jyothika. He founded the Agaram Foundation in 2008 to support different humanitarian endeavours. With the Star Vijay game show Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi, the Tamil equivalent of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? he made his television debut in 2012. Suriya started the production company 2D Entertainment in 2013.
Suriya was born Saravanan Sivakumar to Tamil cinema star Sivakumar and his wife Lakshmi on July 23, 1975, in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu. He went to Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School and St. Bede’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai and graduated from Loyola College in Chennai with a bachelor’s degree in commerce.
Suriya does have a younger brother, Karthi, as well as a younger sister, Brindha.

Jyothika is Suriya’s wife. After dating for several years, the pair married on September 11, 2006. They are the parents of two children.
