South Indian Cinema contributes a large number of legends and superstars to Indian film. Well, south cinema is divided into several sectors, such as Kollywood (Tamil), Tollywood (Telugu), Sandalwood (Kannada), and Mollywood (Malayalam), each with its own celebrities, but the man who is the South’s biggest superstar has the most effect from south cinema and is now the biggest actor, scroll down to know the answer.

Thalapathy Vijay began his career in 1994 and has had a string of failures. In the first 5–6 films he made. He’s only a few films were successful until 2000, then Ghilli, his first blockbuster, was released in 2004. It was his first picture to make over 50 crores at the time, as well as one of the top-grossing films in Kerela, and it turned out to be one of his best films to date. After then, he was regarded as one of the best performers in Kollywood ( A-LIST ACTOR ) as he continued to provide a steady stream of successes and flops until 2012 when the film Thuppakki was released. He has established himself as the south’s biggest superstar.
This film became the year’s most popular movie, breaking all non-Rajni box office records and making Vijay the first actor to reach the $100 million mark. In 2014, he collaborated with A.R. Murgadoss on KATHTHI, which catapulted his popularity to new heights. Kaththi was the highest-grossing film at the time, grossing over 100 crores, only a superstar can achieve this feat.
Until 2014, Vijay, along with THALA Ajith, is the only face in Kollywood that comes close to Rajnikanth’s fame who is an all-time biggest superstar. In 2016, he collaborated with ATLEE for the first time, and the rest is history; the film again shattered box office records in 2016, grossing over $100 million worldwide in only six days.
In 2017, Bhairava smashes huge in the Box office, grossing Rs 100 crore in only four days. Then there’s the major turning event, which, in my opinion, made him the biggest southern superstar. Mersal had a global debut of 48 million dollars and went on to generate 100 million dollars in three days, 150 million dollars in seven days, and a lifetime total of 250 million dollars, which is one of the greatest totals ever.
Talking about Thalapathy Vijay’s previous movie- Master, Without first releasing with theatre rights, the film had already amassed over 200 crores (which was pre-release business). After something like this, anybody can declare that he has to be the only biggest superstar of south cinema right now, since his film Bigil is the biggest grossing south film of 2019, not only in Tamil Nadu but also in Malaysia and France, where his flicks continue to break records.
