Jennifer Lawrence is indeed an actress from the United States. Lawrence was the highest-paid actress within the world in 2015 and 2016, with her movies generating more than $6 billion globally. She was named to Time’s list of the world’s 100 most important people in 2013 as well as to Forbes’ Celebrity 100 list from 2013 to 2016.
Lawrence took part in church plays and school musicals as a kid. She was discovered by such a talent scout while being on vacation alongside her family in New York City at the age of fourteen. She subsequently relocated to Los Angeles and started her acting career in television guest parts. Her first notable role was in the comedy The Bill Engvall Show (2007–2009), where she was a key cast member.
Lawrence made her cinematic debut in the drama Garden Party as a supporting character before breaking out as Ree Dolly, a poor adolescent in the coming-of-age indie mystery movie Winter’s Bone.
Her major performances as that of the mutant Mystique in the X-Men movie franchise (2011–2019) and Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games film series (2012–2015) propelled her career forward. She became the highest-grossing action heroine of all time thanks to the latter.
Throughout her career, Lawrence has garnered several awards, including several for her three collaborations with filmmaker David O. Russell. Her portrayal in the romantic drama Silver Linings Playbook (2012) as a young widow with an unspecified mental disease garnered her the Academy Award for Best Actress, making her the second-youngest Best Actress winner at the age of 22. She went on to win the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role in the dark comedy American Hustle as an unpredictable wife (2013). Lawrence won Golden Globes for both of these movies, as well as for her performance in the biopic Joy as entrepreneur Joy Mangano.
Since then, she’s appeared in films including Passengers (2016), mother! (2017), and Red Sparrow, a spy thriller (2018).
Lawrence considers herself a feminist, stating that “feminism simply means equality.” She’s also a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood. She established the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation in 2015 to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Special Olympics of America. In 2018, she founded the production business Excellent Cadaver.
