Jack Black is indeed an actor, comedian, musician, as well as composer from the United States. In addition to his involvement in the Jumanji franchise, Black has appeared in the movies High Fidelity (2000), Shallow Hal (2001), Orange County (2002), School of Rock (2003), Envy (2004), Gulliver’s Travels (2010), Bernie (2011), as well as the House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018). In DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda flicks, he also voices Po, a huge panda. For his roles in School of Rock as well as Bernie, he received Golden Globe nominations, and then in 2018, he was honoured with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

Thomas Jacob Black was born on August 28, 1969, in Santa Monica, California, to satellite engineers Thomas William Black as well as Judith Love Cohen. He grew up in the California beach town of Hermosa Beach. His mother was a writer who worked on the Hubble Space Telescope’s research ground station.

Through his mother, he had three elder half-siblings: scientist Neil Siegel, Howard Siegel, as well as Rachel Siegel. His mother was Jewish from birth, while his father converted to Judaism later in life.

Black grew up as a devout follower of Judaism, attending Hebrew school and having a bar mitzvah.
