Who is Ewan McGregor?

Ewan McGregor is indeed a Scottish actor who has been in a number of films and stage productions. In 1993, he made his professional debut as just a lead in the British Channel 4 series Lipstick on Your Collar. The roles of heroin addict Mark Renton inside the drama movies Trainspotting (1996) and T2 Trainspotting (2017), Obi-Wan Kenobi inside the Star Wars prequel trilogy (1999–2005), poet Christian in the musical film Moulin Rouge!, SPC John Grimes in Black Hawk Down, young Edward Bloom in Big Fish, Rodney Copperbottom in Robots (2005), and Camerlengo Father Patrick McKenna in Angels and Demons catapulted him to international fame.

Dr Alfred Jones inside the romantic comedy-drama Salmon Fishing in Yemen (2011), Lumière within the live-action adaptation of the musical romantic fantasy Beauty and the Beast, the adult version of the titular character in the fantasy comedy-drama Christopher Robin (2018), Dan Torrance in the horror film Doctor Sleep, and Black Mask inside the DC Extended Universe superhero film Birds of Prey In the Netflix miniseries Halston, he played fashion designer Halston in 2021.

McGregor received Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor – Musical or Comedy for both Moulin Rouge! and Salmon Fishing in Yemen, as well as won a Golden Globe for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film for his dual role as brothers Ray and Emmit Stussy in the third season of the FX anthology series Fargo.

McGregor has been a motorcycle enthusiast since he was a child, and in 2004 he embarked on a long worldwide motorcycle journey with his best buddy Charley Boorman and filmmaker Claudio von Planta. From mid-April to the end of July, they rode BMW R1150GS Adventure motorcycles from London to New York via central Europe, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia, Canada, and the United States, covering a total distance of 22,345 miles.

The journey featured stops at various UNICEF projects along the way, and it inspired a television show and a best-selling book, both titled Long Way Round. In 2007, The Long Way Round crew regrouped for another motorbike tour from Scotland’s John o’ Groats to South Africa’s Cape Town. The trip, dubbed Long Way Down, lasted from May 12 to August 5, 2007.
