Blake Lively is an actor, model, filmmaker, and activist from the United States. Lively, who was born in Los Angeles and is the daughter of actor Ernie Lively, had her professional debut in his film Sandman (1998). She played Bridget Vreeland in the critically acclaimed films The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005) and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (2008). She starred in the comedy Accepted alongside Justin Long and rose to prominence as Serena van der Woodsen in the CW drama television series Gossip Girl.
New York, I Love You (2008) and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee were both romantic comedies in which she appeared (2009). Lively co-starred in the crime thriller The Town (2010) with Ben Affleck and in the superhero film Green Lantern alongside Ryan Reynolds (2011). She starred in the ensemble cast in Savages (2012) and received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Adaline in the romantic fantasy The Age of Adaline (2015).
She starred in The Shallows (2016), a survival horror thriller, and All I See Is You, a psychological drama (2016). She played with Anna Kendrick inside the box office success A Simple Favor (2018) and even in the critically acclaimed The Rhythm Section (2020).
Lively is married to actor Ryan Reynolds and has three children with him.
In 2005, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was published. Lively was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for “Choice Movie Breakout – Female” for her performance. Lively had minor parts within horror-thriller Simon Says and co-starred with Justin Long in Accepted in 2006. Accepted was not well received by reviewers, but Lively’s performance was, garnering her the Hollywood Life’s ‘Breakthrough Award.’
Anabelle, a bulimic teenager who dreamed to win a beauty competition, was played by Lively in Elvis and Anabelle (2007). Lively revealed that she “lost substantial weight” for her height in order to get it into the mood for the part. Food is “the No. 1 passion of my life,” she said, so the procedure was challenging for her. Her performance inside the movie was acclaimed by MovieLine.com, who called it her “breakthrough role.”
