What is Timothée Chalamet?

Timothée Chalamet is indeed an actor from the United States. He has been nominated for one Academy Award, three BAFTA Film Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, four Screen Actors Guild Awards, and four Critics’ Choice Movie Awards during the course of his career. Chalamet began his acting career in short films and commercials before landing a role in Homeland, a TV drama series, in 2012. He made his feature film debut two years later inside the comedy-drama Men, Women, and Children, and then in the science-fiction blockbuster Interstellar.

Chalamet had his debut in 2017 as Elio Perlman in Luca Guadagnino’s coming-of-age romance drama Call Me by Your Name, followed by roles in the coming-of-age flicks Hot Summer Nights and Lady Bird, as well as the western picture Hostiles. At the age of 22, his work in Call Me by Your Name garnered him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.

He was later nominated for such a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award, as well as a BAFTA Film Award for his role as Nic Sheff inside the autobiographical drama Beautiful Boy (2018). In the period plays The King and Little Women, Chalamet played Henry V of England and Theodore “Laurie” Laurence, respectively. He featured as Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s epic science fiction blockbuster Dune and also in Wes Anderson’s ensemble cast in The French Dispatch in 2021.

In 2016, Chalamet received a Lucille Lortel Award and was nominated for a Drama League Award for his performance in John Patrick Shanley’s autobiographical drama Prodigal Son. Chalamet began acting in commercials as just a toddler and starred in two horror short films, Sweet Tooth and Clown, before making his television debut as a murder victim inside an episode of the long-running police procedural series Law & Order (2009). Following that, he had a small part inside the television movie Loving Leah (2009). In 2011, he made his Broadway debut as Nicholas, a sexually inquisitive 12-year-old, in the Off-Broadway production The Talls, a coming-of-age comedy set in the 1970s. “Chalamet wonderfully depicts a tween’s growing questions about sex,” noted the New York Daily News’ leading theatre reviewer.

Chalamet is regarded as one of the most gifted performers of his age by a number of magazines. Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times said of his portrayal in Beautiful Boy, “he could be the male performer of his generation.” He was included to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Hollywood & Entertainment list in 2018.

Chalamet has been dubbed a sex symbol as well as a fashion icon by the media, with his hallmarks being his hair, jawline, and androgynous appearance. Vogue named him the most important guy in fashion in 2019, praising him for “continuing to stretch the boundaries between traditional masculinity and femininity,” adding, “those fashion choices are just that much more amazing since Chalamet fashions himself.” He was named the best-dressed guy in the world by GQ in 2020. Along with musician Billie Eilish, professional tennis player Naomi Osaka, and poet Amanda Gorman, Chalamet served as one of the co-chairs of the 2021 Met Gala.

The event was held in conjunction with the Costume Institute’s In America: A Lexicon of Fashion exhibition. Chalamet was named a Cartier brand ambassador in September 2021.
