Sumotherhood will star and be directed by Adam Deacon

Adam Deacon, an English actor as well as filmmaker, is returning to filmmaking with Sumotherhood, a British urban action comedy now in production in London. Ed Sheeran, whose acting credits include Game of Thrones and Yesterday, has joined the cast alongside Danny Sapani of Black Panther, Jennifer Saunders of Absolutely Fabulous, Peter Serafinowicz of The Tick, Leomie Anderson of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, London Hughes, Kevin Bishop, Jaime Winstone of Kidulthood, Vas Blackwood, and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (a Lawrence Olivier award best actor winner for Tina Turner The Musical).

As per the Hollywood Reporter, they will join for an already confirmed cast of Deacon, Jazzie Zonzolo, Richie Campbell, and comedian Eddie Kadi, as well as a number of other appearances from the worlds of acting, comedy, as well as music.

Sumotherhood has enlisted the skills of Blue Story’s Simon Stolland as cinematographer in addition to the on-screen talent. The film, written by Deacon, Zonzolo, and Michael Vu, represents actor-writer-director Deacon’s return to filmmaking after a long hiatus and more than a decade since his directorial debut Anuvahood in 2011. (on which he collaborated with Vu).

Sumotherhood is produced by BIFA-nominated producer Finn Bruce and will shoot in Hackney and East London in February and March. Along with Bishop, Deacon, and the production team, BAFTA Breakthrough casting director Heather Basten cast the picture.
