The third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic night curfew was milder than the previous two rounds, resulting in fewer fatalities and precautions. The state governments, on the other hand, were not prepared to take any chances, therefore they set certain limits. The night curfew has been in place in Maharashtra from January 9, 2022. Cinemas were only allowed to open between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. In other words, the last movie in the theatre would begin.

The days of Mumbai’s night curfew are thankfully nearing its end. The night curfew in Mumbai will be abolished on February 2 as per the new direction of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Well before outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic, the circular plainly states that movie theatres can reopen at their regular times. The 50% rule, on the other hand, will stay unchanged.

Maharashtra’s government has granted exemptions to 11 areas with high immunisation rates. At the very same time, the state government’s statement made it plain that the district authorities would have the authority to decide whether the limits should be loosened.

The sector has reacted positively to the decision. “It’s a tremendous step,” a trade expert told Bollywood Hungama, “and so now we hope that some other towns like Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur do away with night curfews as well.” Even if theatres are told to run at 50% occupancy, the movie can be a tremendous hit. The night curfew, on the other hand, can be damaging to a film’s box office.”

Badhaai Do, starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, will be released on February 11 and will be the first major release since December 24. With night concerts in Mumbai city, which account for a significant portion of its entire revenue, it will undoubtedly have a stronger run. “We hope by the time Gangubai Kathiawadi launches on,” the trade expert added.

“Some theatres will start screening night shows beginning tomorrow,” a multiplex employee told this reporter (Wednesday, February 2). However, most theatres will begin enforcing this ban on Friday, February 4.”
