Is Bollywood popular in Arab countries?

Moviegoers inside the Gulf area now favour Bollywood movies, and prominent cinemas in the region often play Indian blockbusters.

According to industry sources, mainstream Hindi films are gaining popularity in the traditionally conservative Gulf countries at a time when Bollywood producers are exploring global markets and targeting NRI audiences. Apart from Indian satellite channels, Arabic stations are also broadcasting the newest Bollywood films and music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in order to reach an ever-growing audience.

We may criticise Bollywood movies for their lack of content or aesthetic value, but the majority of people just want to watch funny movies. I like to think about books rather than movies, and I just enjoy watching movies. Bollywood films are not very sophisticated, and anyone can enjoy as well as understand them.

Our movies are appealing because of the stunning actors, costumes, sets, and locations. The movies of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Vishal Bhardwaj are breathtaking to see! Consider the film Slumdog Millionaire, which depicts the first world’s predisposition to perceive the dark side of third-world nations and civilizations. The majority of the world prefers beautiful visuals to ugly ones.

In India, singing and dance are popular because they reflect the culture. It’s definitely our movie’ best selling factor outside of India.

Indians do not have a cultural aversion to modernism, which tends to be Western in outlook. Our movies represent our Indian traditions and sensibilities while also presenting a contemporary alternative. This appeals to civilizations where modernity and westernisation are more difficult.

In Arab nations, the Khans are naturally unpopular. But there was a lot more to it. Our performers and actresses, as well as others in the profession, are from a variety of ethnic and religious backgrounds in India, with foreigners welcome as well. It portrays our culture in a favourable light.

In terms of establishing connections with Arab countries, Bollywood has been really helpful. Today, we have contacts with all Arab nations, but this was not the case a century ago!
