On Monday, Disney Branded Television unveiled two new unscripted programmes for Disney+, with Brie Larson and Jeremy Renner serving as executive producers.
According to Deadline, Brie Larson of Captain Marvel will star in a “hybrid docu-series” titled Growing Up, while Jeremy Renner of Hawkeye will star in Rennervations, “a four-part series that embraces Renner’s lifelong passion for giving back to communities around the world by reimagining unique purpose-built vehicles to meet a community’s needs.”
Through 10 intriguing coming-of-age stories, Growing Up will examine the struggles, successes, and complexity of adolescence. Brie Larson, Nicole Galovski, Raeshem Nijhon, and Carri Twigg will serve as executive producers on the series, which will be produced by Culture House.
“The series mixes narrative, experimental, and documentary filmmaking to follow one casted character, aged 18-22, as they tell their tale,” according to Disney. They reflect a vast spectrum of lived experiences, providing audiences with emotionally compelling storylines that provide an interesting look at adolescence and the various societal, family, and personal difficulties that young people confront on their journey to self-discovery and acceptance.”
“Each 30-minute episode focuses on a single young person, or ‘hero,’ and their growing-up experience. Each episode begins with a highly intimate conversation in which our heroes take us on a journey through their childhood and adolescence. In addition to these conversations, imaginative cinematic reenactments assist to bring their important turning events to life.”
Yara Shahidi, Sydney Freeland, Elegance Bratton, Ashley Eakin, Ekwa Msangi, Smriti Mundhra, Rudy Valdez, Bernardo Ruiz, Kishori Rajan, and Nicole Galovski are among the directors on board, alongside Yara Shahidi, Sydney Freeland, Elegance Bratton, Ashley Eakin, Ekwa Msangi, Smriti Mundhr
Rennervations follows Jeremey Renner as he travels across the world helping communities. “Jeremy is a building fanatic behind the camera. According to Disney, “he is very committed in the highly creative fabricator culture that exists across the world, and he aspires to improve lives with his abilities and inspire others to do the same.”
The feature film will be produced by Boardwalk Pictures, with Jeremy Renner, Rory Millikin, Romilda De Luca, Andrew Fried, Dane Lillegard, Sarina Roma, and Patrick Costello serving as executive producers.
