Madhoo Shah (born Madhubala on March 26, 1969) is an Indian cinema actress who has mostly worked in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam films. She is best known for her roles in Kuku Kohli’s Hindi hit Phool Aur Kaante (1991), Mani Ratnam’s Tamil hit Roja (1992), which won the National Film Award for Best Film on National Integration and received a nomination for Best Film at the 18th Moscow International Film Festival; and K. Raghavendra Rao’s Telugu hit Allari Priyudu (1992), which was screened at the International Film Festival of India in the category of Best Film (1993).

Beginning August 2019, she has become the host of both the popular music television programme Rangoli upon that DD National channel.

Madhoo Shah is from Tamil Nadu. She attended Juhu’s St. Joseph’s High School and the University of Mumbai for her education. She is indeed the niece of actress Hema Malini and hence Esha Deol’s cousin.

Madhoo was cast by action director Veeru Devgan for his son Ajay Devgan’s debut in Phool Aur Kaante (1991), and her first film became K. Balachander’s Azhagan (1991), in which she co-starred Mammooty, Bhanupriya, as well as Geetha.

She got her acting debut alongside Mukesh inside the Tamil film Ottayal Pattalam. She finally returned with the Bollywood movie Kabhi Socha Bhi Na Tha in 2008 and also has subsequently been seen in minor parts in movies. Under her true name Madhu, she had appeared in five movies. Balaji Mohan’s Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Vaayai Moodi Pesavum/Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram in 2014 marked her return towards the Tamil cinema. Starting August 2019, she has hosted the DD National music television series Rangoli.

On February 19, 1999, she wedded Anand Shah. Amaya and Keia are their two daughters.
