In Bollywood, his flawless acting talents, towering presence, and unwavering energy have made him a demigod.

Mr Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, and attended a residential school in Nainital before graduating from Delhi University with a double MA degree. Despite acting was not his first choice, fate had other plans for Mr Bachchan, who made his Bollywood debut in 1969 with the film Saat Hindustani, in which he played one of the main characters.

He went on to make documentaries about poverty, social inequity, corruption, unemployment, and other topics. Throughout his nearly 50-year career, he has received several prizes and honours, as well as the moniker of ‘Angry Young Man.’

Beyond the Indian subcontinent, he built a sizable international following among the South Asian diaspora and others in markets such as Africa (South Africa, Eastern Africa, and Mauritius), the Middle East (especially the UAE and Egypt), the United Kingdom, Russia, the Caribbean (Guyana, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago), Oceania (Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand), as well as the United States.

Bachchan was struggling, regarded as a “failed newbie” with twelve failures but only two hits even by age of 30. (as a lead in Bombay to Goa and supporting role in Anand). In 1973, he was offered the dual part in the movie Bandhe Hath by director O.P Goyle as well as writer O.P Ralhan. It was indeed Bachchan’s debut film in which he portrayed two roles. Salim–Javed, a screenwriting combo comprising of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, quickly recognised Bachchan.
