Vikrant Massey Won’t Be Bracketed After 3 Releases This Year
After three releases in 2026, Vikrant Massey says he wants goon-punching action and meaningful cinema—without being bracketed into one kind of role.

After a busy 2026 with three releases, Vikrant Massey is making one thing clear: he has no plans to stay in one lane.
In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, the actor said he wants to explore the action-packed, mass-entertainer world too—while continuing the meaningful cinema audiences associate with him.
From television to three films in a year
Massey began on TV with shows like Dhoom Machaao Dhoom, Dharam Veer, Balika Vadhu and Qubool Hai. This year alone, he has been seen in O’Romeo, Pritam and Pedro, and Musafir Cafe. That volume has only sharpened his appetite for different kinds of roles.
Goons, flying bodies and a bigger canvas
When asked whether he would try action-packed mass entertainers, Massey was quick to say yes. He described the role he would love to play as someone “punching goons left, right and centre, with people flying through the air”—the kind of visual, high-energy action that usually gets reserved for a different screen image.
But he framed it as a new dimension, not a replacement. “At the same time, I also want to continue doing meaningful cinema,” he said.
Why he refuses to be bracketed
Massey was explicit about the thinking behind the wish list. He said actors always want to experiment and play a wide variety of roles, adding, “I don’t want to bracket myself or restrict myself to a particular kind of cinema.”
He described the goal in three parts:
- Action-first mass entertainers with scale and spectacle
- Meaningful stories with emotional weight
- A balance where a film is both important and thoroughly entertaining
“For me, the idea is to find that balance to be part of something that is important and meaningful, but also thoroughly entertaining,” he said.
The comment lands at a useful moment. Indian audiences now often see the same actor in an intimate OTT drama one month and a big-screen spectacle the next, so refusing a single image is less of a career risk than it once was.
What to watch next
He stopped short of naming a specific action film, director or co-star. This was a statement of intent rather than a project announcement. The test will be whether casting directors and filmmakers now bring him the larger-than-life roles he is asking for—without losing the grounded streak that has made him a favourite.
If the balance he describes lands, it could open a second, wider lane while keeping the first intact.
