Vikrant Massey’s Dream Role: Playing Rahul Dravid On Screen

Vikrant Massey names Rahul Dravid as his dream on-screen role, alongside a singing musician, while producing Musafir Cafe. No project announced.

Vikrant Massey's Dream Role: Playing Rahul Dravid

Vikrant Massey has a clear answer to the question every actor gets asked at some point: which real person would you love to play? His answer is Rahul Dravid. The National Award-winning actor revealed that the former Indian captain tops his on-screen wishlist.

“I think I would love to play a sportsman. I would love to play Rahul Dravid,” Massey said. He added that he would also love to play “a musician who can sing, who can play an instrument” – two very different creative dreams sitting on the same list.

Why the Dravid dream feels timely

Massey has built his career on layered, believable characters, and audiences reward actors who disappear into real, recognizable figures. His interest in another real-life personality has brought fresh attention to the idea of him in a biographical role. Sports stories, and cricket in particular, carry a built-in fan base, so the thought of Massey stepping into a Dravid story instantly sparks a casting conversation.

To be clear, this is a wishlist, not a trailer. No project has been announced around either aspiration.

From actor to producer

The reveal came as Massey discussed Musafir Cafe, his recent move into production. He said he was “looking for scripts to produce, not necessarily act in” and wanted to go beyond acting responsibilities to be part of developing a script from the ground up.

He credited the depth of writer Sharanya’s work, saying they complemented each other creatively. “Both of us very strongly feel that less is more,” he added.

What is actually on the table

  • Dream role: Rahul Dravid, the former Indian captain and batting great
  • Second wish: A musician who can sing and play an instrument
  • Production debut: Musafir Cafe, with writer Sharanya
  • Next release: White
  • Status: No Dravid or musician project announced yet

The move into production also matters for how Massey thinks about his next roles. An actor who is now reading scripts with a producer’s eye is more likely to chase the stories he genuinely wants to tell – which is exactly what his Dravid and musician wishlist suggests.

For fans, the pleasure right now is in the imagining. Massey has put himself forward in the most natural way an actor can – by saying the name out loud. Whether a filmmaker or studio builds a project around that wish is the next question.

Until a studio says yes, the Dravid dream stays exactly that – a dream. But in an industry where star-driven announcements often begin as a line in an interview, this is the kind of statement that can quietly turn into a headline later. His next screen appearance remains White.
