3 Arrested in Tiger Shroff Firing: Bollywood’s Security Tiers
Three arrests after the Tiger Shroff firing put Bollywood police protection in focus, from Y-plus for Shah Rukh and Salman to X-category for others.

Mumbai Police have added personnel outside Tiger Shroff’s Juhu residence after unidentified gunmen fired at his car on the evening of October 18, 2026. The actor avoided bullet wounds but had minor cuts and bruises from shattered glass and gunpowder, while his driver and another person were hurt and treated.
Three suspects held at Kota station
Mumbai and Rajasthan Police arrested three suspects — Phool Singh, 18, Hrithik Kumar, 22, and Rehan, 22 — at Kota railway station. Investigators said the trio was allegedly trying to flee towards Nepal. Officers are also examining a social media claim linking the shooting to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and to overseas-based figures Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other officials later visited Tiger Shroff at his residence and assured him of increased security.
How Bollywood’s security categories work
Police protection for stars is not one-size-fits-all. It moves between X, Y and Y-plus categories, or local police help and private security, based on threat assessments by a state-level committee. The committee can upgrade, downgrade or withdraw cover as the risk changes.
- Shah Rukh Khan: Y-plus since October 2023, reportedly after death threats over the song Besharam Rang from Pathaan; he bears the cost.
- Salman Khan: Y-plus since November 2022 because of threats attributed to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang; his detail includes around 11 to 12 police personnel, four armed commandos and a weapons-trained constable.
- Kangana Ranaut: Y-plus from the central government since September 2020, after her remarks comparing Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir drew sharp reactions and a warning from Sanjay Raut.
- Akshay Kumar: X-category cover; he reportedly pays for the arrangement.
- Rohit Shetty: Juhu residence security was increased after a separate gunfire incident in the area.
- Anupam Kher: X-category cover after threats following The Kashmir Files.
- Vivek Agnihotri: Y-category from the central government since March 2022, after a higher threat perception around the same film.
- Aamir Khan: local police protection or private security, revised after unverified threat calls and audio clips in July 2026.
Why the firing changes the conversation
The Juhu shooting makes the system visible. Security is often reviewed after something goes wrong, so a star with X-category cover today may be reassigned Y-plus tomorrow. For fans, the categories explain why some actors travel with armed commandos while others rely on private guards. For the industry, it is a reminder that on-screen fame can carry off-screen risk.
Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments residence also saw increased police presence after the Tiger Shroff incident, with visuals showing personnel in bulletproof jackets and police vehicles stationed outside.
The protection grid is meant to be fluid. As investigators trace the Kota arrests and any Bishnoi gang link, expect the state committee to revisit threat levels for the stars named in the case.
