The Delhi High Court has ruled that Ranveer Singh’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar cannot be shown without a disclaimer.

The Delhi High Court declared on Monday that prenatal sex determination cannot be taken lightly. The judge made the remark while hearing a complaint about a sequence in the trailer for Ranveer Singh’s forthcoming movie Jayeshbhai Jordaar that depicted the use of ultrasound technology for gender determination.

“There is nothing to show in the trailer that the lady is taken to the doctor clandestinely. What is coming out is, any pregnant woman can be routinely taken to the centre with sonography machine and this can be done without any fetters,” After seeing the trailer, the bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla declared.

Through Advocate Pawan Prakash Pathak, petitioner ‘Youth Against Crime,’ an NGO, stated: “The ultrasound clinic scene where the technology of ultrasound for sex selection is being advertised openly without censor and as per section 3, 3A, 3B, 4, 6 & 22 of the PC & PNDT Act, same is not allowed & hence the instant PIL.”

Despite the fact that the video promotes the “Save Girl Child” tagline and is against female foeticide, the petitioner claims that the trailer promotes the use of ultrasound technology.

During the hearing, counsel for the movie’s producers contended that the trailer included a disclaimer.

The bench responded by stating that the disclaimer is scarcely visible or legible and instructing the lawyers to take directions.

The Counsel further stated that they will make the complete film and transport the judges to the relevant section. The hearing will resume the next day. ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar,’ produced by Maneesh Sharma, also stars Shalini Pandey from ‘Arjun Reddy,’ who makes her Bollywood debut alongside Ranveer Singh.

The movie was directed by Divyang Thakkar and will be released on May 13th.
