The American series on Madhuri Dixit’s life that Priyanka Chopra backed was cancelled

Madhuri Dixit, who is now earning praise for her Netflix debut The FameGame, has now announced that the American series based on her life, which was supported by Priyanka Chopra, would no longer be produced. Priyanka Chopra said in Variety in 2017 that she had signed on as a producer for an American comedy series based on Madhuri Dixit’s life. Sri Rao, who directed The Fame Game, was supposed to write and direct the series. Madhuri’s life in the US suburbs after she gave up her acting career and married Dr. Sriram Nene was to be the subject of the show.

However, Madhuri said in a group interview, as reported by Indian Express, that the series is no longer being produced. Sri Rao had also worked on the script, she claimed, and there were ongoing conversations about the show. It was, however, not approved. She said, “We were trying to pitch it and Shri Rao, director of The Fame Game, who has written the script of the show, was involved with that project too. But sometimes things work and sometimes they don’t. We tried to get that sitcom approved but it didn’t pan out.”

Furthermore, she clarified that the show was not intended to be her autobiography, but rather a part fiction, part reality series that shed light on specific events from her life after she relocated to Denver, where no one knew who she was. Madhuri, on the other hand, affirmed that this is no longer the case. She said, “It is done and we are not working on it anymore.”

Madhuri has recently made her OTT debut in The Fame Game, which also stars Sanjay Kapoor and Manav Kaul. The series is already available to watch online, and it has received a lot of positive feedback. Madhuri’s fans have been waiting for her to return to the big screen since she last appeared in Karan Johar’s flick Kalank.
