The actress Mumtaz is offered Heera Mandi by Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heera Mandi has become one of the most talked-about projects ever since inception. In fact, Bollywood Hungama claimed in October that perhaps the filmmaker was already casting for such web series. SLB has reportedly immersed himself in Heera Mandi now that he may have finished working on Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. Continuing with the cast, we’ve learned that Bhansali has approached Mumtaz, the super-iconic actress from the past.

Unfortunately, the former heart-throb of millions has declined Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s offer. “SLB had approached the legendary actress, who regaled us in several blockbusters in the 1960s and 1970s, but she is not in the mood for a comeback.”

According to a person close to the situation, she has turned down an invitation to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s opulent costume drama Heera Mandi for Netflix.

The insider goes on to say that the role Mumtaz was offered was a key one that needed the movie star to execute an intricate Mujra. Mumtaz, on the other hand, rejected, claiming that her husband would not approve of her dancing at her age.

In the case of Heera Mandi, the Netflix-exclusive series will contain seven one-hour episodes in its first season, with a second season set to premiere in 2022. Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself is directing the first episode. He may also direct the second episode, and Bhansali will also direct the last episode. Vibhu Puri, who worked as an assistant to Bhansali, will direct the remaining episodes.
