Shilpa Shetty Remembers Father Surendra on 10th Death Anniversary

The actor posted unseen throwback photos and a heartfelt note a decade after Surendra Shetty's death; Shamita Shetty also paid tribute.

Shilpa Shetty Marks 10 Years Without Her Father

On the anniversary of a loss, actors often stop performing. Shilpa Shetty did exactly that this Sunday, marking 10 years since her father Surendra Shetty’s death with a quiet Instagram tribute and a handful of throwback photographs the public has not seen before.

“10 years without you, Dad,” the actor wrote. She added that she misses him every single day — “some days a little more” — and that her only consolation is the belief that he is in a better place, watching over and blessing the family.

A shared family ritual

Her sister Shamita Shetty turned to her own feed with a similarly restrained note. “Some parts of your heart remain forever where you left them,” she wrote, sending her love to her father. It is a rhythm the two sisters have kept since October 11, 2016.

Surendra Shetty died that day at his home in Versova, Mumbai, after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Why the posts hold attention

For the audience that follows stars as closely as films, these posts are not just sad news. They make a familiar face feel human. Shilpa and Shamita do not turn the memory into an event or a brand moment; they simply show up on the same date each year with personal words. That consistency makes the grief legible.

A useful way to read it is as a visible ritual. In a feed built on glamour, returning to the same private loss creates a rare sense of continuity. It gives fans permission to care about the person, not only the performer.

The career alongside the grief

Shilpa has also continued to work steadily. Her last screen appearance was in KD: The Devil, directed by Prem. The Kannada film stars Dhruva Sarja in the title role, with Sanjay Dutt, V. Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah and Nora Fatehi among the supporting cast. It had a theatrical release on 30 April 2026.

  • Surendra Shetty died on October 11, 2016, after a cardiac arrest at home.
  • Shilpa and Shamita have shared anniversary tributes every year since.
  • Shilpa’s most recent release is the Kannada feature KD: The Devil (2026).

What creators can take from it

Influencers and public figures often ask how personal to get online. The Shetty sisters offer a simple answer: be specific, be brief, and repeat the gesture only when it is honest. A post like this works because it is anchored to a real date and a real relationship, not to a trend. The photographs do the emotional work; the words just confirm what the audience already feels.

The risk on such anniversaries is over-explaining or dressing the memory in glamour. Both sisters avoid that. They mention their father, not their projects, and they let the loss stand on its own. That is something any public person can borrow.
