Rowdy Rathore is indeed a 2012 Bollywood action comedy film directed by Prabhu Deva as well as produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala underneath the banners of UTV Motion Pictures and Bhansali Productions. Akshay Kumar plays a courageous police officer, as well as a burglar in this adaptation of the 2006 Telugu, hit Vikramarkudu, helmed by S. S. Rajamouli and based on an original plot written by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad. Sonakshi Sinha, Gurdeep Kohli, Yashpal Sharma, and Paresh Ganatra appear as supporting characters, while Nassar plays the primary antagonist, and Tamil actor Vijay makes a cameo appearance.

Rowdy Rathore was released internationally on June 1, 2012, and was mostly shot in Mumbai and Hampi on a budget of 60 crores. Sajid–Wajid composed the soundtrack for the film. It premiered mediocre reviews but went on to become one of India’s highest-grossing movies. The movie was indeed a box office success both domestically and internationally, grossing over 218.39 crores globally.

Sajid–Wajid composed the music, which was released on April 27, 2012. Wajid acknowledged that the lyric Chinta Ta Ta Ta and a portion of the melody were taken from the Telugu version’s original track.

Kumar Sanu, making his comeback after four years, has performed a song for the movie.

The Indian version’s satellite rights were distributed to Sony Entertainment Television. The movie was afterwards dubbed in regional languages like as Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. Star Vijay was able to get the Tamil Version’s rights. The Telugu version’s rights were obtained by Star Maa. Asianet has purchased the Malayalam version’s rights. The U/A grade was awarded to all three dubbed versions.

The picture was awarded a U/A classification for theatrical distribution but was later recertified U by the censor board for video and Doordarshan release.

Critics gave Rowdy Rathore a mixed response. Bollywood Hungama’s Taran Adarsh awarded the movie four stars, writing, “If you enjoy masaledaar cuisine, that’s one you should definitely watch. Dhamaal entertainer, dhamaal entertainer, dhamaal amuse” DNA India awarded it three out of five stars and stated, “Akshay is back in action in Rowdy. And in such a way! From the opening scene, the actor seizes control of the movie and maintains it throughout. Simply said, the movie is to Akshay what Wanted was to Salman!” “Fans will appreciate Akshay’s mooch-twirling masala-act but be ready for brutal action – some rather gory,” said Srijana Mitra Das for The Times of India, giving the movie three out of five stars.
