Acclaimed movie stars are expanding their roles beyond the silver screen, contributing to the industry’s continuous evolution. Donning multiple hats, they are stepping into the director’s chair for their films. From Prithviraj Sukumaran directing the highly anticipated action thriller ‘L2: Empuraan’ to Konkona Sen Sharma’s critically acclaimed ‘A Death in the Gunj’, here are five Indian movie stars proudly shaping their films in various capacities. 1. Prithviraj Sukumaran – ‘L2: Empuraan’

Now, he once again steps into the directorial realm with ‘L2: Empuraan’ produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions. This highly anticipated sequel to Prithviraj’s directorial debut, ‘Lucifer’, starring the iconic Mohanlal, promises to be the biggest Malayalam release of the year. Apart from ‘L2: Empuraan’, Prithviraj Sukumaran is also gearing up for the release of his upcoming action thriller, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’.

2. Aamir Khan — ‘Taare Zameen Par’ 

Celebrated as one of the greatest artists and a visionary in the truest sense, Aamir Khan left an indelible mark on Hindi cinema when he ventured into directing with the masterpiece ‘Taare Zameen Par’. Produced by Aamir Khan, this acclaimed film follows the journey of an artistically gifted 8-year-old boy facing academic challenges. A compassionate art teacher, played by Khan, discovers the boy’s dyslexia and helps him overcome his reading disorder. 3. Kunal Kemmu — ‘Madgaon Express’

4. Konkona Sen Sharma – ‘A Death in the Gunj’

A critically acclaimed performer who continues to receive immense applause from both audiences and critics for her extraordinary big-screen portrayals, Konkona Sen Sharma turned director with the 2016 mystery thriller ‘A Death in the Gunj’. An English-language drama film written and directed by Konkona Sen Sharma, it’s a coming-of-age story featuring Vikrant Massey, Tillotama Shome, Om Puri, Tanuja, Gulshan Devaiah, Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sarbh, and Ranvir Shorey. Last seen in the commercial blockbuster ‘Dunki’, the versatile Boman Irani is now gearing up for his directorial debut with a project he has written. The film’s official title is yet to be announced, and fans have been eagerly awaiting to hear more details from the actor-filmmaker. Produced and penned by him, Boman Irani’s directorial debut will also feature him in a prominent role. We are truly excited to learn the film’s official title very soon.
