“Pagglait” was a wonderful film that released on Netflix this year. The entire team behind the movie did a great job. The writer and director Umesh Bist ‘s work was highly acclaimed. He managed to balance a complicated subject with a tinge of humour. After the success of the movie, the team Pagglait has come together once again. The movie “Pagglait” has many firsts to its credit. It was Balaji-Sikhya’s first co-production. The film also marked Arijit Singh’s debut as a composer. Sanya Malhotra’s lead role is coupled with a noteworthy ensemble cast.
Balaji Telefilms’ Ekta Kapoor and Sikhya Entertainment’s Guneet Monga have collaborated to sign Umesh Bist as the director for a three-film deal. As per Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, Creative Producer and EVP at Balaji Telefilms, “Pagglait resonated with Indian audiences in unimaginable ways. Everyone found a connection with the story and that is Umesh’s biggest strength. Furthermore, the film established equity between Balaji and Sikhya. We are thrilled to come together to tell stories that are both emotional and entertaining. Such stories find their way to the hearts of the audience”.
Guneet Monga states, “I still remember the day I met Umesh sir. His vision for his stories is unmatched. It is inspiring to see his faith and commitment to a project. Writer-Director Umesh Bist is also expecting great results from this connection. Umesh says, “It all started when I first met Guneet in 2018 and there’s no looking back since then. The team is ready with the first film and we expect the announcement of project details in near future.
