Nishant Singh’s 3-film blockbuster streak: From Uri to Drishyam
The actor jokes that casting him is now a blockbuster mantra after Uri, Drishyam 2 and Drishyam The Conclusion, and he shares what is next.

Nishant Singh has built a quietly remarkable Bollywood run. Across only three released films — Uri: The Surgical Strike, Drishyam 2 and Drishyam The Conclusion — every title has landed in blockbuster territory.
The Shiv effect in the Drishyam world
In the Drishyam franchise, Singh plays Shiv, who teams up with Neha Joshi’s Jenny. On screen, the pair pose as friendly neighbours to Vijay Salgaonkar’s family. Behind that warmth, they are undercover cops hunting for the one clue that could expose what happened to Meera Deshmukh’s son, Sam.
The role is small but sticky. In Drishyam The Conclusion, the couple’s recordings matter to the case, and Prakash Raj’s advocate Indrajit Shetty dubs them “Changu Mangu,” a moment that regularly gets the audience laughing. It is the kind of detail that turns a compact part into a memorable one.
Before Drishyam, Uri’s commando unit
Before stepping into Shiv’s world, Singh appeared in Uri: The Surgical Strike as SF Commando Rahil Hussain, part of Major Vihaan Singh Shergill’s unit. That film marked Aditya Dhar’s directorial debut, and Singh says the craft on display was unusually assured.
“It didn’t seem like his debut film.”
Singh attributes that control to Dhar’s years behind the camera as a lyricist and writer, including work on Panorama’s Aakrosh in 2010. The research and preparation, he says, showed up on screen — and with Dhurandhar, Dhar has climbed even higher.
Three films, three blockbusters
When the three-for-three streak is pointed out, Singh laughs: “My friends say ‘Film agar blockbuster karni ho, toh isko le lo’.” The line translates, in spirit, to a simple belief among his circle — if you want a blockbuster, cast him.
- Uri: The Surgical Strike — blockbuster action hit
- Drishyam 2 — blockbuster thriller sequel
- Drishyam The Conclusion — blockbuster franchise finale
For fans, the fun of a supporting actor’s streak is that movies are rarely carried alone. A Shiv or a Rahil Hussain may not headline the poster, but characters like these help a franchise feel lived-in. A supporting role with one distinctive beat — an alias, a secret, a comic nickname — can have a longer shelf life than a bigger role with no texture.
What’s next for Nishant Singh
The streak could soon get more data points. Singh says he is part of the Netflix series Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai. He will also begin shooting a film in Sonipat on October 19, followed by an Excel Entertainment series in November.
If the pattern holds, his friends’ joke may end up looking less like a joke.
