Monica Bedi is an Indian film actress and television host who was born on January 18, 1975. She appeared in the movie in Bollywood films inside the 1990s, with movies such as Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat as well as Jodi No.1 (both 2001). She rose to fame while appearing on Bigg Boss 2 and also for portraying Gumaan Kaur Vyas in the Star Plus series Saraswatichandra from 2013 to 2014.
Talking about her education and career, Monica Bedi is indeed a Punjabi woman who was born into Prem Kumar Bedi and Shakuntala Bedi in the hamlet of Chabbewal within the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. In 1979, her family relocated to Drammen, Norway. At that time she finished her undergraduate studies in India and went to Oxford University in the Uk to study literature, while also completing her performing training at Delhi University in 1995.
Bedi and Abu Salem were caught and sentenced to jail in Portugal in September 2002 for coming into the country with false passports. In 2006, an Indian court found Bedi guilty of obtaining a passport under a false identity. The Indian Supreme court affirmed the judgment in November 2010, however decreased her punishment to a time she had previously spent.
Bedi’s debut movie role was in D. Ramanaidu’s Telugu language movie Taj Mahal (1995). She was also featured in Ramanaidu’s films Sivayya and Speed Dancer. Surakshaa was her Hindi debut in 1995.
Bedi was a contestant in the television reality programme Bigg Boss Season 2. She appeared in the reality programmes Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3 and Desi Girl as a participant. She also performed the chants “Ek Onkar” for just a Universal Music religious music CD.
Bedi starred in the Harjit Singh Ricky-directed Punjabi film Sirphire (2012). In the Star Plus programme Saraswatichandra, Bedi portrayed Ghumman, a bad character.
