Mallika Sherawat made her Bollywood debut with the movie “Murder”. The actress became an overnight sensation post-release of the movie. However, her career did not take off as expected. Out of few movies to her credit, Mallika’s performance as Ishika in “Welcome” was appreciated. Even though she was much loved in the comedy, Mallika was missing from the sequel Welcome Back.
Recently, Mallika opened up about the reason she lost the film. The movie “Welcome” was a multi-starrer project. Feroz Khan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Mallika Sherawat, and Paresh Rawal were in prominent roles. The sequel, that released in 2015, featured Anil, Nana, John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Shiney Ahuja, Ankita Shrivastava, Dimple Kapadia, Paresh, and Naseeruddin Shah.
Mallika Sherawat was asked about the possibility of another sequel. after Welcome Back. To this, the actress replied, “If a sequel of Welcome is made, then the director will only cast his girlfriend. When Welcome 2 was made, he cast his girlfriend in the film. What do I do now?.”
Furthermore, Mallika Sherawat said, “But this is true. When they make a sequel they cast their girlfriend, the hero casts his girlfriend. I don’t have any boyfriend in Bollywood, I have never been with any actor, director, or producer. I am more work-oriented. if you think I am worthy of your project I would love to be a part of it. But if any director, producer, or actor wants to cast their girlfriends then it’s their choice. That is the only reason I was not a part of “Welcome Back.”
On the work front, Mallika Sherawat was recently seen in the just-released web show Nakaab. She will soon be seen playing a part in Rajat Kapoor’s next film, wherein she plays an actress.
