by Editorial Team

Actor Kangana Ranaut recently announced her next directorial venture. The actress will be directing “Emergency”, a film based on Indira Gandhi’s life.  This is Kangana’s second film as a director.  The actress earlier directed the film “Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi”. It was earlier reported that director Sai Kabir will be directing the film.  Sai has worked with Kangana in the 2014 movie “Revolver Rani”.

Taking to the social media platform Koo, the actress wrote on Koo, “Pleased to wear director’s hat again, after working on Emergency for more than a year I finally figured no one can direct it better than me. Collaborating with fabulous writer Ritesh Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments I am determined to do it, my excitement is high. This is going to be a tremendous journey, my leap to another league #Emergency #Indira (sic).”

The actress revealed that the film will be written by Ritesh Shah.  Ritesh has penned films like Pink, Kahaani, Kahaani 2, D-Day among others. Ritesh also has to his credit  Kangana’s other film Dhaakad. In an earlier statement, Kangana Ranaut had clarified, “It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi. It is a grand period film. To be precise, it is a political drama that will help my generation to understand the socio-political landscape of current India.”

Apart from Emergency, Kangana has a number of films on hand.  The actress will be seen in Thalaivi, Tejas, Dhaakad and Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda.
