Movie Review:

Jungle Cry, directed by Sagar Ballary, tells the story of 12 Kalinga Institute (KISS) boys who are attempting to find their place in life and in the sport of rugby as they prepare for the 2007 Under-14 Rugby World Cup.

Rudra, their football coach, is played by Abhay Deol, professor Achyuta Samanta is played by Atul Kumar, physiotherapist Roshni Thakkar is played by Emil, and Paul Walsh is played by Stewart. The under-14 Rugby team trained for the World Cup in just four months, and their trip reveals them to be real underdogs.

The filmmakers attempted to show the problems and obstacles that the students at the institute faced, beginning with the formation of the football team and finally preparing them for a different sport – rugby. The film takes on a variety of societal concerns affecting children and their families, including basic necessities.

Abhay gives a good performance in the film, which keeps you interested in the tale. Emily and Atul, as well as Stweart, all nail their acting skills and give the film depth. There were certain scenes that appeared extended as we watched the movie without an interruption, but nothing that seemed dull as we watched the game unfold.
