Jawani Diwani: All you should know about this classic Bollywood movie

Jawani Diwani

Randhir Kapoor, Jaya Bhaduri, Balraj Sahni, and Nirupa Roy appear in Jawani Diwani, a 1972 Hindi musical romantic movie directed by Narender Bedi and featuring Randhir Kapoor, Jaya Bhaduri, Balraj Sahni, and Nirupa Roy as the leads. This one was Kader Khan’s first time writing dialogue.

R.D. Burman’s songs “Jaane Jaan Doodta Phir Ruha,” “Saamne Yeh Koun Aaya,” “Nahi Nahi Abhi Nahi,” and “Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani” are among the most well-known from the movie. The movie was indeed a musical success as well as the tenth best-earning movie in India.

Following her Bollywood first movie, Guddi (1971), in which she was categorised as the girl next door, Jaya Bhaduri tried breaking free with such a glamourous part in the movie. Aralida Hoovugalu, a Kannada remake, was released in 1991.

The soundtrack for this film was created and produced by R. D. Burman. Anand Bakshi wrote the lyrics for the song. On the Binaca Geetmala yearly list of 1972, the song “Jaane Jaan Dhoondta Phir Raha” was ranked #26. The title of a hit movie Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) was derived from the pop hit from of the movie, which has been later reproduced out of his own variant within Bengali movie Rajkumari featuring Tanuja, and then in the 2019 movie Student of the Year 2, a spinoff to Student of the Year, with music composed by Vishal-Shekhar and sung by Vishal Dadlani and Payal Dev, and Kishore Kumar.

Jawani Diwani (1972) by Narendra Bedi checks almost all of these criteria, but that also attempts to accomplish a few things in a different way, even inside its own candyfloss context.

There’s Jaya Bhaduri, who was debuted to Hindi movie viewers the prior year as a charming, somewhat irritating schoolgirl in Guddi, and as a sort continuation of it in Uphaar, following just a few Bengali films. Jawani Diwani, on the other hand, rebranded herself with large, puffy hair, bright blouses and flared jeans, sunglasses, and a flirtatious attitude. There’s Nirupa Roy, who has been portraying the lead’s weepy mom for over two decades.

And there’s Nirupa Roy, who had just been portraying the weepy mom to the leading man for over two decades.  Jawani Diwani is also a departure to her since, although she plays a mother, she does so as a young mother of a little school-aged kid. She is really not even particularly tearful; in contrast, she flirts with her spouse in a couple of instances (Balraj Sahni).

Finally, there is also Balraj Sahni. He isn’t the first actor to be known because of his parts in socially aware films like Kabuliwala, Garm Hava, and Do Bigha Zamin.
