Javed Akhtar Defamation Case: Kangana Ranaut Seeks Permanent Exemption From Appearance

Actor Kangana Ranaut had recently filed an application for exemption from appearance before the court. The actress’s plea stated that attending the dates of trial on regular basis will require her to travel miles from different work locations to Mumbai. She further added that she as well as the production houses will incur huge financial losses. Kangana’s application added that she would not have any objection to adding evidence in her absence. It further mentioned that she promises the court that her non-appearance wouldn’t come in between the fair trial. The next date of hearing has been scheduled for July 27, 2021.

The plea submitted by advocate Rizwan Siddique mentioned that “The applicant declares that her non-appearance shall not come in the way of proceeding with trial, and she will appear through her advocate. The applicant also confirms that she has no objection if the evidence is recorded in her absence.., Kangana Ranaut had proceeded to give her opinions on the circumstances around Sushant’s death without having any knowledge about this.

As per the reports, the screen writer accused the actor of making several defamatory statements in her interview held in July 2020. She stated that Javed runs a ‘suicide gang’ in Bollywood. She also mentioned that he had ‘threatened her to settle her dispute with actor Hrithik Roshan’, so that she will be compelled to commit suicide.

Advocate Niranjan Mundargi Akhtar’s plea had said he was shocked when he learnt that Kangana had given an interview to the television anchor, damaging his “immaculate reputation by falsely attributing statements to him”.

Javed Akhtar stated that he was facing trolling on social media as the result of the actress’s allegation. The court had taken cognizance of his complaint and summoned Kangana before it in March.
