According to sources, Kapil Dev has decided to help promote the movie, but only in a restricted manner. “In October 2020, Kapil Paaji had a health problem. It was suggested that he take it easy. The makers and creators of ’83, Reliance Entertainment, and Kabir Khan are unsure how more they can rely on the actual Kapil, and the PR will also have to be carried by the on-screen Kapil,” a source close to the situation said.
“Kapil has consented to be part of the publicity in a restricted way,” according to Kapil Dev’s insiders. Sanjay Dutt, who just had medical treatment, is also keen to participate in the advertising and marketing for his film KGF2 alongside Yash.
This Kabir Khan-directed sporting epic stars Ranveer Singh as the renowned Indian batsman Kapil Dev and Ranveer’s real-life wife Deepika Padukone will essay the role of wife Roma, reenacting the events of India’s grand win during the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
There’s also an excellent cast of performers portraying real-life sportsmen. The most fascinating aspect of the film is Ranveer Singh’s incredible physical change into Kapil Dev.

Whenever the two come all together, the product is likely to generate a huge amount of interest.” ’83, which was supposed to come out in April 2020, will have to wait till normalcy is restored before spectators can see the biggest marriage of cricket and movie since Ashutosh Gowariker’s Lagaan.
