Ileana D’Cruz celebrates nine years of Barfi, calls it ‘eternally special’

Ileana D’Cruz took to social media on Tuesday to celebrate nine years of her Barfi. The film also starred Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor. Celebrating the special day, Ileana shared multiple pictures from the sets of the film.

Ileana took to Instagram today to remember her 2012 debut film which remains close to her heart. Marking nine years of the film, she shared old pictures with co-stars Ranbir and Priyanka and called it ‘eternally special’.

Barfi was directed and written by Anurag Basu and was jointly bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur. The comedy-drama film was set in 1970. The story revolved around the character of Murphy Johnson (Barfi), a deaf-mute boy from Darjeeling, and his relationships with two women, Shruti and Jhilmil (who is autistic). The film also starred Ashish Vidyarthi, Saurabh Shukla, Jisshu Sengupta, and Roopa Ganguly in prominent roles. 

The film won several awards and nominations at different award ceremonies. At the 58th Filmfare Awards, the film received thirteen nominations including Ileana for Best Supporting Actress and Priyanka for Best Actress.

What’s on the work front? 

Ileana was last seen in Kookie Gulati’s The Big Bull along with Abhishek Bachchan. The actress will next be seen in Unfair And Lovely with Randeep Hooda. The shooting of the film was wrapped up in November 2020 which will mark the directorial debut of Balwinder Singh Janjua.
