“I pick characters that are nothing like me – to me that’s what acting is all about”, Shahid Kapoor

Last night at an event, when Shahid Kapoor was asked about the characters he picks, he mentioned “For me, it’s nothing to do with who I am! it’s more like what I can portray and who I can be! I’m not looking to do something that’s like me, I think that would be very narcissistic like let me just show myself to the world! The idea is to be a part of stories and play different characters who represent different aspects of human behavior, and society, people who are from different backgrounds, whose brains work differently, whose heart works differently, who speak differently, look different, and walk differently! To me, that’s what acting is what always been about and I will always chase that. I’m not very interested in who I am and put that out in front of the camera, instead, I’m more interested in what the director or scriptwriter is bringing to me and I can mold myself to become that!”
