In the vibrant world of Bollywood, where actors frequently embody larger-than-life characters on the silver screen, there exists a unique cohort who once harboured aspirations of a divergent nature – dreams of serving in the Indian Army. These cinematic luminaries, before ascending to their status as beloved figures in the film industry, nurtured aspirations of leading lives marked by discipline, courage, and service.
Let’s dive into these celebrities who wanted to join the armed forces –

Akshay Kumar
Born into a family with a strong military background, Akshay Kumar felt a natural inclination to pursue a career path aligned with his father’s service, believing that a deep sense of patriotism flowed through his veins. Initially envisioning a future in the Indian Army where he could impart martial arts skills, acting wasn’t on his radar. Committed to aiding soldiers, the actor has also founded ‘Bharat Ke Veer’, an online platform aimed at facilitating donations for the families of fallen heroes.

Mahesh Shetty
Throughout his life, the allure of military service was in the heart and soul of Mahesh Shetty, even as a kid he was adorned with visions of wearing the uniform with honour and serving his country. Even in his formative years Shetty eagerly participated in school drills and proudly served as a member of the National Cadet Corps (NCC). The actor found joy and purpose in the discipline and camaraderie fostered by these activities. Whether it was donning the uniform for morning assemblies or engaging in NCC training sessions, he enjoyed every bit of the training. Though fate led him down a different path towards fame, Mahesh still lives his dreams through his roles.

Nimrat Kaur
Nimrat Kaur, the daughter of an army officer, has always expressed her deep pride in witnessing her father don the revered olive greens throughout her upbringing. Transitioning to her role as an army officer in the web series ‘The Test Case,’ Nimrat often spoke about how life has beautifully intertwined with her childhood aspirations and still cherishes the honour and admiration she holds for those who serve in the armed forces.

Sonu Sood
Initially drawn towards a career in the Army, Sonu Sood redirected his path towards engineering before eventually venturing into the realm of cinema. Nonetheless, his deep-seated desire to don the revered army uniform persisted. During his interviews for his movie, ‘Paltan’ the actor often spoke passionately about his admiration for the armed forces.

Rannvijay Sinha
Rannvijay Singha, known for his transition from a VJ to an actor, was initially destined to follow in the footsteps of his family’s legacy of serving in the Indian Army for five generations. However, fate intervened when he received an unexpected call for the reality show MTV Roadies, diverting his career trajectory. The actor often reflects on how his life might have been different had he pursued a military career and consistently advocates for young individuals to consider joining the army, honouring his family’s tradition and the noble service it represents.
