Chennai Express: All you need to know about this Shah Rukh Khan movie

Chennai Express is indeed a 2013 Bollywood Hindi-language action comedy film directed by Rohit Shetty as well as produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Gauri Khan, and Karim Morani, based on stories by K. Subash and written by Yunus Sajawal with Farhad-Sajid dialogues. The movie stars Shah Rukh Khan as Rahul Mithaiwala, a guy who takes the namesake train by mistake and travels through Mumbai to Rameswaram with Deepika Padukone, the daughter of such a local don. Additional parts are played by Nikitin Dheer and Sathyaraj.

Khan and Shetty’s initial intended partnership was a reworking of Angoor (1982). However, the screenplay for Chennai Express was picked, which has been originally prepared as a backup idea for Khan. The movie was initially named Ready Steady Po and was intended as just a “commercial” romance. Shooting in Mehboob Studio took place In October 2012 and ended in May 2013. A major portion of the movie was shot in Ooty, with sets built-in Wai. Vishal–Shekhar created the music for Chennai Express, while Amar Mohile created the background music. UTV Motion Pictures joined as producer and distributor, marking the company’s first active venture alongside Khan for over 9 years.

Chennai Express premiered in theatres throughout the world on August 8, 2013, and in India a day later. Critics gave the picture a mixed response. Nevertheless, it set a number of box office records in India and overseas, also became the fastest movie to gross $1 billion (US$13 million) locally. At the time, it had eclipsed 3 Idiots as that of the highest-grossing Bollywood movie within the globe. It is one of the most successful Bollywood movies of all time.

A platform running game titled Chennai Express: Escape from Rameshwaram, based on the movie and starring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone was released on July 24, 2013, for Android platforms by Disney UTV’s digital division. In the game, the user travels a virtual roller coaster, fending off thugs and evading hurdles in unlocking Padukone’s game avatar by collecting around 10,000 coins.

“On the whole, ‘Chennai Express’ does have the characteristic Rohit Shetty stamp all over,” observed Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama, who rated the film four out of five stars. Inside a movie such ‘Chennai Express,’ you’re looking for entertainment, entertainment, and more entertainment, and the movie lives up to the hype.” Filmfare’s Rachit Gupta gave the movie a four-star rating, saying, “The movie is full of comedic set pieces, vibrant locations, and catchy tunes. Rohit Shetty is known for his Chettinad-style masala films. And it is an excellent summary of the picture. This movie can be entertaining if you don’t want to engage in a multi-lateral criticism of dramatic components and narrative.”

DNA’s Sarita Tanwar awarded the film 3.5 out of 5 stars and said, “This is a must-see for Hindi cinema fans.
