Celina Jaitly Marks 1 Year Since Leaving Austria
Celina Jaitly opens up about a year of divorce proceedings, custody fears, and the friends she says witnessed her dedication to her children.

Celina Jaitly has marked one year since she returned to Mumbai with a single suitcase, sharing a long account of the divorce and custody battle she says she has been fighting since.
What Celina says happened
In a detailed social media post, the actor wrote that she landed in Mumbai on 12 October 2025 with a ticket booked on a credit card and a suitcase holding files, her late mother’s saree and what she calls “heartbreak.” She says a divorce notice reached her in early September 2025 — at a moment she thought she was collecting a 15th wedding anniversary gift.
Celina and Austrian businessman Peter Haag married in Hyderabad in 2010. The couple had four children: twins Winston and Viraaj, born in 2012, and younger son Arthur, born in 2017; Arthur’s twin, Shamsher, died after birth due to a heart condition.
- Early September 2025: A divorce notice arrives, she says, when she expected an anniversary gift.
- 12 October 2025: Celina returns to Mumbai with one suitcase.
- November 2025: She files for divorce in a Mumbai court.
At the first hearing, she says, a judge gave the couple until November to work toward an amicable separation. She wrote that she begged her husband for a settlement that would protect the children. The response, she claims, was to “speak to my lawyers,” and she was told she could work as a cleaner if she ran short of legal fees.
A custody fight across borders
Celina further alleges that a legal notice claimed her premarital assets, and that she was told she could not leave Austria after divorce if she wanted access to her children. She says she had no access to Austrian accounts and discovered efforts to sell her premarital assets in India.
She also writes that she felt under surveillance, and that everyday moments such as scolding the children were recorded in an effort to portray her as an unfit mother. She says she left Austria at 1 a.m. with the help of neighbours, spent a week in a hotel speaking to her children over Zoom and phone calls, and then lost contact the day she went to court to reclaim her premarital assets.
A year later, she claims, efforts continue to take away her joint custody, and she alleges the children have been moved through Austrian jurisdictions.
Who she calls her witnesses
In the same post, Celina named people she says can speak to her role as a mother, including Lara Dutta and TV star Dimpy Ganguly, along with doctors and neighbours. “They stand witness for my motherhood & dedication to my family & children,” she wrote.
Her account offers a rare, personal view of a transnational custody dispute and how difficult it can be for a parent to fight across borders. She filed for divorce in a Mumbai court in November 2025 and says she is still waiting for justice.
