Bhumi Pednekar has a lot to be delighted about these days. After all, her most recent film, Badhaai Do, was favourably welcomed by the public. The film, directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni and starring Rajkummar Rao, was about a lavender couple and their marriage of convenience. Intriguingly, this is Rajkummar and Bhumi’s debut collaboration, and their on-screen chemistry has left the audience speechless. While Badhaai Do continues to receive excellent reviews following its OTT debut, Bhumi Pednekar recently opened out about the film’s success, saying she feels “overwhelmed” by the affection she has received.

Bhumi stated she is grateful for the tremendous reception to Badhaai Do when she spoke to India Today about the film’s popularity. “We had a lot of faith in the storyline, and it makes me happy that the viewers have responded so positively to the picture,” she continued. Bhumi also recalled her first response to the Badhaai Do storyline, saying that it was similar to how the public has reacted to the film.

When she read the script for Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, the actress says she laughed and then went into tears. Bhumi declared, “It was just a mix of emotions. I was amazed how the politics of the film was so correct. How the representation of the queer community was so sensitively done. What I loved about the film is that these two characters lived. There’s nothing phenomenal or extraordinary that they do. They are flawed, they are grey, they have courage and they are as human as they are and that’s what worked for Badhaai Do”.

Meanwhile, while she continues to enjoy the success of Badhaai Do, Bhumi is looking forward to her forthcoming films, which include Rakshabandhan starring Akshay Kumar and Govinda Naam Mera starring Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani, and Govinda Naam Mera starring Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani.
