The horror-comedy starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani and directed by Anees Bazmee is off to a great start at the box office.
It’s party time in the Hindi film business, as, after months of silence, a Hindi film has finally had a strong start at the box office. According to early estimates, the Anees Bazmee comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 featuring Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, and Tabu in the lead grossed between Rs 13.75 and 14.75 crores on its first day.
The film began with a 20% occupancy rate in the morning presentations and increased to 50% by the evening, resulting in an average aggregate occupancy of 35% for the whole day. The film achieved these numbers with reduced ticket prices, which has resulted in increased attendance. In terms of box office receipts, the film sold roughly 8.50 lakh tickets on its first day, which is comparable to RRR’s March 2022 release. RRR had a 19.00 crore opening with around 8.50 to 9 lakh footfalls, but it was at ticket prices approximately 25% more than Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
While Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 had an average ticket price of around Rs 230 in the 900+ polled cinema halls across the country, RRR was at Rs 320 (3D included), KGF 2 was at Rs 272, Jersey was at Rs 268 and the Hollywood blockbuster, Doctor Strange, was at the highest ever price of Rs 341 (3D included) in the same set of cinema halls. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has also become Kartik Aaryan’s greatest opener to date, surpassing his previous high, Love Aaj Kal 2. (Rs 11.47 crore). Unlike the Imtiaz Ali picture, however, the Anees Bazmee film generates positive buzz among the public, giving it a strong chance of being Kartik’s biggest grossing film to date.
The release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has breathed new life into this struggling sector, indicating a solid weekend ahead for the film. The good news is that the family crowd has already begun to show up for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and it is this demographic that will guarantee that the picture maintains a solid weekday trend.
