Amitabh Bachchan has been enjoying the success of his most recent film, Jhund. The film has garnered a lot of positive feedback. In the film, Big B plays a coach who encourages slum kids to take up the sport. Many of the actors in the films were believed to be facing the camera for the first time. Amitabh spoke about a number of aspects pertaining to the film in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, one of which was about a scene that even Big B was taken aback by.
The actors that played the young footballers were chosen from the slums and given minimal acting classes before the shoot began for the unversed. Amitabh Bachchan remarked that one of the most unforgettable moments on the sets of Jhund is a scene in which the children are in tears. One of the kids approached him before the scene was shot and questioned, “Sir, rote kaise hai?” (Can you tell me how to cry?) Big B noted that there is a lot of sadness in this, and that his circumstances, the manner he lived, and the environment he grew up in were probably so terrible that he was beyond sobbing. This moment, according to Big B, stayed with him for a long time.
Amitabh Bachchan even praised the little children. According to the renowned actor, “But really the praiseworthy portion of the film is the youngsters that have performed in it- the boys from the slum. They have been absolutely exceptional in terms of their talent. They were so natural.”
The film, directed by Nagraj Manjule, tells the storey of Vijay Barse, a real-life Slum Soccer pioneer in India. The picture was released in theatres on March 4th.
