Andhadhun: All you need to know about this dark comedy movie

Sriram Raghavan co-wrote and helmed Andhadhun, a 2018 Indian Hindi-language dark comedy criminal thriller film produced by Matchbox Pictures and released by Viacom18 Motion Pictures. Tabu, Ayushmann Khurrana, as well as Radhika Apte feature inside the movie, which depicts the narrative of a blind piano pianist who’s become unknowingly involved in the murder of such a former movie actor.

Raghavan, Arijit Biswas, Pooja Ladha Surti, Yogesh Chandekar, as well as Hemanth M Rao wrote the script for Andhadhun.

Surti supervised the movie, and K. U. Mohanan served as that the director of photography. The movie’s music was composed by Amit Trivedi, while the lyrics were written by Jaideep Sahni. As guest composers, Raftaar, as well as Girish Nakod, created the title tune together.

In 2013, Rao recommended L’Accordeur (The Piano Tuner), a 2010 French short film about just a blind pianist, to Raghavan. Raghavan enjoyed the movie and took inspiration from it. After contacting Raghavan and expressing an interest in working with him, Khurrana was cast in the starring role. The movie was shot in Pune over the course of a year, with filming started beginning in June 2017 and ending on July 17, 2018.

Andhadhun was released in theatres in India on 5 October 2018 to critical praise by Viacom18 Motion Pictures. The screenplay and performances of Ayesha Khurrana and Tabu were praised by critics.

At the Screen Honors presentation, it received four awards, notably Best Director and Best Screenplay, as well as five Filmfare Awards, featuring Best Film (Critics) and Best Actor (Critics) for Ayushmann Khurrana. This also took home three National Film Awards: Best Hindi Feature Film, Best Actor for Ayushmann Khurrana, and Best Screenplay. At the global box office, the movie has made over 456 crores (US$61 million). The movie has been remade in Telugu as Maestro (2021) and Malayalam as Bhramam (2021), with a Tamil remake, Andhagan, in the works.

Raftaar and Girish Nakod created the title tune for Andhadhun’s music, while Amit Trivedi composed the rest. Jaideep Sahni, Raftaar, as well as Nakod wrote the album’s lyrics. It was published under the label Zee Music Company on September 21, 2018. Trivedi, Raftaar, Ayushmann Khurrana, Arijit Singh, Abhijeet Srivastava, Aakansha Sharma, Shadab Faridi, as well as Altamash Faridi all contributed vocals. Daniel B. George created the music for the background soundtrack.
