Amitabh Bachchan replaces Rishi Kapoor in Deepika Padukone starrer – The Intern

by Editorial Team

The Hindi adaptation of the film “The Intern” was announced in January 2020.  Rishi Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were roped in for the lead roles.  The project was on hold due to sad demise of Rishi Kapoor.  This meant that the venture was missing a vital member of the cast, and the makers had to re-evaluate the cast of the movie.

There are now talks that the project is being revived.  As per the latest information, none other than Big B will be playing the role that was to be played by Rishi Kapoor.

For those who already do not know, The Intern is a Hollywood comedy-drama released in 2015. The film features Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway, and Rene Russo in the lead, directed by Nancy Meyers.  The Hollywood flick received a positive response from the critics and the audience for the story and performances of the lead cast.

Though it has taken quite sometime, the remake of “TheIntern” is expected to hit the floor shortly. The film is reportedly a joint venture between Azure Entertainment and Warner Brothers. The dates of the commencement of shooting are yet to be announced. It was earlier conveyed that Deepika and Rishi would be portraying the roles originally played by Anne Hathway and Robert Di Nero.

While Rishi Kapoor will be persistently missed by Bollywood and its fans, we are hopeful that the lead pair, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone will give an equally intense performance.  Reportedly, Badhaai Do Director, Amit Sharma would be directing the movie.

Up till now, no official announcement has been made by the makers or Amitabh Bachchan as yet.
