Amitabh Bachchan donates ventilators to Mumbai hospital

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently donated two intensive Ventilators of ‘Class-1’ type to the Lokmanya Tilak General Hospital, Mumbai. According to the hospital, some needy patients have been effectively treated with these two state-of-the-art ventilators. Both the ventilators are operational in the surgical department of the hospital.

Additionally, Bachchan also donated medical supplies worth approximately Rs. 1.75 crore.  These included monitors, CRM image intensifiers, infusion pumps, and other useful things. The doctors and medical staff of the hospital thanked the 78-year-old actor for his generous donation.

Earlier the star had commented on why he doesn’t choose a fundraiser way to raise COVID-19 relief funds.  Amitabh Bachchan said, “it makes me feel embarrassed, I believe in doing charity rather than speaking about it.  I may have partaken in the event as a voice-over, but never directly asked to give or contribute. If there have been such incidents, then I seek forgiveness.”

In his blog post, he had shared a series of pictures featuring his various donations. Amitabh Bachchan explained that he has not posted about his donations to seek praise.  The megastar is ensuring that all of them have been used appropriately.

While many have applauded the gesture, there had been criticism also.  Some of the netizens mentioned that it is no big deal that the megastar has contributed as mentioned above. The net worth of Amitabh Bachchan is considerable.  The donations are paltry in comparison to his worth.
