Mumbai Police: Tiger Shroff Was Not the First Target

Mumbai Police have added a sharp twist to the firing incident near Juhu on Sunday evening: actor Tiger Shroff was not the shooters’ first choice. Investigators say the three accused originally planned to target another prominent Bollywood celebrity, but changed course when that star’s security proved too difficult to penetrate.

Why the shooters switched targets

According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, the celebrity they first targeted had security so tight that the shooters could not get close. Police said the accused then decided to target Tiger Shroff, believing he would be an easier mark, and opened fire at his car instead.

“Tiger Shroff was not the shooters’ original target. The three shooters were targeting a prominent Bollywood celebrity. However, the celebrity’s security was so tight that the shooters were unable to target them,” the Mumbai Crime Branch said, according to ANI.

The shooting took place around 7 pm while Tiger Shroff was leaving a football club in Juhu. He escaped without direct gunshot injuries, but his driver was injured.

The arrests and the ‘Plan B’ transfer

Three suspects were tracked down and arrested in Kota, Rajasthan. A local court granted Maharashtra Police a 48-hour transit remand to bring them to Mumbai.

  • Case registered under BNS Sections 109(1) and 3(5), and Arms Act Sections 3 and 25.
  • Suspects were kept at the Railway Colony police station in Kota overnight.
  • Police switched to a revised “Plan B” for transport after the court order.

Railway Colony police station SHO Ramswaroop Meena confirmed the remand and that the accused were being taken to Mumbai by Maharashtra Police.

What this means for star security

The case is a sobering example of target substitution: when one celebrity is too well protected, a threat can shift to a softer target. It explains why teams guard arrival and exit routines so closely, and why visible security is treated as a deterrent rather than just a response.

Tiger Shroff is safe from a direct bullet injury, but the scare leaves a larger question hanging over the industry: who was the original target, and what else did the accused plan? Police have not named that person, and the investigation into the motive and intended targets is ongoing.
